GRAND LEDGE, Mich. –– PetSmart Charities and Mid-Michigan Cat Rescue will host the first-ever Save-a-Life Adoptathon on the first weekend of May in the West Lansing PetSmart parking lot. The adoptathon is a collaborative pet adoption event, featuring companion animals from Mid-Michigan animal rescues and shelters.
The event will take place on Friday, May 3 from noon – 5 p.m., Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
“We are so excited about the possibilities this adoptathon will bring to so many animals in just a matter of one weekend,” said MMCR Director Sarah Vicary. “This will be the largest collabrative event ever held in the Lansing area, and we hope to make it an annual event on behalf of the homeless animals in our community. Saving lives is our passion and we believe the time and effort put into this event will make a huge difference for hundreds of companion animals awaiting new homes.”
According to Vicary, PetSmart Charities and MMCR anticipate the celebration to be the largest collaborative pet adoption event ever held in Mid-Michigan, with an average of 100 pets available for adoption each day. The event will take place in large tents at the PetSmart location on 305 North Marketplace Blvd., Lansing. “The Save-a-Life Adoptathon will feature a diverse selection of domestic pets in all shapes, sizes and breeds,” Vicary said.
Each day will feature reduced adoption rates, family entertainment, including magicians and face-painting, information on community resources available for homeless pets, and opportunities to get involved with local organizations through volunteering. The event offers up to 300 companion animals an opportunity to find love and family as they are adopted into their forever homes.
